William Carr Rogers

William Rogers was born on November 9, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio to Isaac Rogers and Monterro McKinney. He had 11 siblings, Charles, Vando, Darnell, Charlotte, Monterro, Archie, Isaac, Carl, Andrew, Betty, Jeanne.

In 1943, William was drafted into World War II, where he fought in Europe. He moved supplies, guarded German prisoners, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and much more.

After the war, he sought employment where available and finally settled on working for the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. He married Margie Jean Evans on June 14, 1947 and bought his home on Barrymore Ave. They had 3 children, Michael Rogers (1947), Claudia Rogers (1960), and William Rogers (1963). William faithfully provided and cared for his family.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, airplanes, and riding the train. Every year he would take a trip to Las Vegas. He was always happy when his friends, children, and grandchildren would come and visit, and when he was telling his World War II stories. He was blessed with a long life, living to almost 102 years old, which provided much warmth and happiness with family and friends.

On October 20, 2025, William passed away due to complications with Covid and pneumonia. William is survived by his 2 children, Claudia and William, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
